Mehrdad Khamenei: In Performance of "Immigrants" We Fade Political Attitude of Mrozek

Mehrsad Khamenei, director of "Immigrants” which is performed in House of Theatre in Tehran said that the main question of the play is not immigration but is social justice.
Iran Theatre- Mehrsad Khamenei, director of "Immigrants” pointed to this issue that he tried to pass appearances and normal clichés about immigration and added: “Maybe it seems apparently that the subject is immigration but in fact it is about two persons, two attitudes, and two different social positions who judge each other based on pre-attitudes. The play is in fact about two persons with two different mentalities that now after immigration they try to put away the pre-attitudes and know each other better. The problem of the play is not immigration but it is social justice.”
The director who himself translated Slawomir Mrozek’s play from Dutch to Persian talked about differences of performance with the original text and continued: “When Slawomir Mrozek forced to leave Poland and go to Paris, was 70s and climax of cold war; so this point made the “Immigration’s play so ideological, but in our performance the political attitude has been faded and we emphasized on social aspects.”
He pointed to specialties Slawomir Mrozek’s texts and added: “Mrozek’’s works are usually black satire which tries to be not melodramatic and make them to cry. His works want to make his audience thinking.”
